Juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex tooth ~6.5 cm total (2.6 inch)
This is a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex tooth from the Hell Creek Formation of North Dakota. The two halves are presumed to belong together as they were found only a couple inches apart and exhibit similar fossilization. While there are expert preparators that could join the two halves of this tooth together, we decided to leave it unprepared to preserve the original detail. This tooth also exhibits unique iron rich fossilization, giving parts of its surface an almost metallic luster.
